Practical AI advice from someone who builds with it.
Honest guidance on where AI can genuinely help your business, what it will cost to run, and what to leave alone. No hype and no vendor pitch, just clear recommendations from a developer who ships AI features every week.
Where AI fits, and where it doesn't
Every business is being told to “use AI”. Very few are being told what for. We start with how your business actually works: where time goes, which jobs are repetitive, where information gets stuck or retyped, and what your customers keep asking.
From that we identify the handful of places AI can make a real difference. Typical candidates are handling and summarising documents, drafting replies to routine enquiries, extracting data from forms, invoices or emails, classifying and routing requests, and first-draft content that a person then edits. Just as important, we tell you where plain automation or a better process would do the job more cheaply and more reliably than a language model.
Choosing the right approach
Off-the-shelf tools, a custom build on top of an API, or something trained on your own data: the right answer depends on the task, the volume and how sensitive the information is. We work with Anthropic’s Claude, OpenAI’s models and open-source alternatives, and we are not tied to any of them.
You will get a clear comparison covering accuracy for your use case, cost per use at realistic volumes, speed, how your data is handled and stored, UK GDPR implications, and what happens when the model gets it wrong. Decisions are written up in plain English so the whole team, not just the technical people, can understand the trade-offs.
Pilots before platforms
We do not recommend large AI programmes. We recommend a small pilot with a measurable goal, run over two to four weeks on real work, with success criteria agreed up front. Hours saved, response times, error rates, customer satisfaction: whatever matters to you.
At the end of the pilot you have evidence rather than opinion. Either it is worth building properly, in which case our AI development service takes it from there, or it isn’t, and you have found that out quickly and cheaply.
Policies, risk and your team
Staff are already using AI tools, whether or not there is a policy. We help you write a sensible one: what can and cannot be shared with external services, where human review is mandatory, how outputs are checked, and how to spot the common failure modes.
We also run practical sessions for your team on getting good results from the tools you choose, so the investment lands in day-to-day work rather than in a slide deck.
